Abstract Since 1960s,thd phenomenon defined counterurbanization has occured in many develops countries. There are various kinds of arguments on its nature, its trend and its influence on the tendency of urbanization of the world, and so on. This paper comments on these arguments and characteristics of the phenomenon, so as to recognize the rule of present process of world urbanization and to offer theoretical reference for the practices.
